How Koster's Keep Uses PLA and PETG for 3D Printed Ducks
At Koster's Keep, we take pride in creating high-quality 3D-printed ducks that are both adorable and durable. Choosing the right material for each duck is essential, depending on its purpose and where it will be used. That’s why we use both PLA and PETG in our designs—but with specific roles for each material. Let’s explore how we match the right material to each type of duck!
Why PLA Is Perfect for Cruise Ducks
For our delightful line of cruise ducks, we use PLA (Polylactic Acid). PLA is an eco-friendly, vibrant material that’s easy to print with and provides a beautiful, smooth finish. Since cruise ducks are typically used for fun indoor activities or tagging along in relatively mild conditions, PLA is a fantastic choice. It’s lightweight, colorful, and perfect for creating eye-catching designs that add joy to the cruising tradition.
PETG: The Go-To for Jeep Ducks
For our upcoming line of Jeep ducks, we’ve chosen PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol) as the star material. Why? Because Jeep adventures often mean exposure to rugged conditions, including heat, sunlight, and even rain. PETG is a stronger, more durable material that’s resistant to heat and water, making it ideal for ducks that will decorate your dashboard or join you on off-road trails. These adventure-ready ducks are designed to endure the elements while staying as charming as ever!
The Koster's Keep Approach
Here’s how we choose materials based on the purpose of each duck:
-
Cruise Ducks: Printed with PLA for their smooth, polished look and wide array of vibrant colors. Perfect for sharing smiles on a cruise!
-
Jeep Ducks: Crafted with PETG for added durability, flexibility, and resistance to outdoor conditions. Ready for rugged exploration with your Jeep.
By carefully selecting the right material for each duck, Koster's Keep ensures that our creations not only look great but also suit your adventures—whether on the open seas or off the beaten path.
